Edward T. Welch, M.Div., Ph.D. Ed Welch is a counselor and faculty member at CCEF. He earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Utah and has a Master of Divinity degree from Biblical Theological Seminary. Ed has been counseling for over thirty years and has written extensively on the topics of depression, fear and addictions. His books include: When People Are Big and God is Small; Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave; Blame it on the Brain; Depression—A Stubborn Darkness; Running Scared; Crossroads: A Step-by-Step Guide Away from Addiction; and When I am Afraid: A Step-by-Step Guide Away from Fear and Anxiety.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and extended family, and playing his guitar. He and his wife, Sheri, have two married daughters and four grandchildren.

Dr Karl Hood will be speaking on

Karl Hood MBBS(Hons), GradDipRGP(Anaes), FRACGP, FACRRM, MAR(Westminster) Karl Hood has had a longstanding interest in counseling and pastoral care as an important part of the ministry of the word. After 10 years of medical practice, he left his clinic for further training in counseling at Westminster Seminary and the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) in Philadelphia. Karl Hood is currently pastoral assistant at Drouin Presbyterian Church, in Victoria. His duties there include preaching, small group training and pastoral counseling. He has counseled in his congregation and local church community for 12 years. Karl is a medical practitioner, in a private medical practice, and does part-time work in anaesthesia.
He is also adjunct lecturer in pastoral care at Presbyterian Theological College, in Melbourne and is in his sixth year on the board of Chairo Christian School.
In the minimal spare time that Karl finds he has, he spends it adding trees to his 8 acre arboretum. Karl and his wife, Louise, have been married for over 20 years and they have four children.
